Obituary of Marie J Smith

Please share a memory of Marie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marie Smith was born in North Carolina on April 27th, 1936. Her parents, who preceded her in death, are Joseph Green Justice and Christine Barnes Justice. She was raised in New York City where she met and married Tommie Smith Sr., who was enlisted in the United States Army. One of Mama favorite past times was singing and dancing. We always enjoyed family gatherings with talent contest between our aunts and cousins and my mom would be right there in the middle of it. It was at The Pentecostal House Of Prayer, under the leadership of Bishop Luther Dingle, Mama Smith found a new love, a new song and a new dance. Through her acceptance and belief in the Lord Jesus Christ she made reservations for her one way ticket to heaven. While being the wife of a military man, she traveled abroad until the family was stationed in El Paso Texas. With Mom’s hunger and desire to maintain her spiritual life and to get her children introduced to Christ. The first Church we became members was Youth On The Move. Mama Smith was singing in the adult choir and had us in the youth choir. From there God lead her to Full Gospel Evangelistic Temple (Pastor by Johnnie Washington). Sister Smith was Church Secretary, Praise Team member, Sunday School Teacher and Treasurer. In 2013 she moved to Dallas, TX to be with her children where she became a faithful member of West Mount Horeb Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor B. F. Mathews Sr. She is a member of the Pastor Aide Committee, Treasury of Mission, Member of the Sanctuary and Senior Choir. She leaves behind, Two Daughters Belinda Green and Tommie Williams, and One Son Reverend Tommie Smith Jr. (wife Faye Smith). Grandsons, Clinton Wilkerson (Harolyn Jordan) and Roshaun Wilkerson (wife Sheneca Wilkerson) and step Grandson Deon Cravin. Great Grandchildren Kathy, Jeron, Christian, Roshaun, and Jerzie. Additional Grandchildren six. Surviving Siblings: Frances Draton, Jane Murray and Sabrina Dent. Step Siblings: Billy Tucker with 5 other step brothers and sisters. Preceding in Death: Sisters Eva Christine Justice, Emma Lee Avent, Levar J Williams aka Lena, Ida Mae Bolden and Brother Joseph C Justice Jr. aka Bubby. Host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws. Host of Friends and Love ONES. After the passing of my father Tommie Smith Sr., (from my Father’s side of the family), surviving brother-in-law, Uncle Wolf and all cousins from Lubbock TX. we thank you for all the love and support that you all continued to give your Aunt Marie.
