PFC Devon Jamel Harris was born in Dallas, Texas, on
July 3, 1986, to Tennyson Charles Harris and Sorainya Delores
Harris. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at
the Southern Hills Church of Christ. In 2004, Devon graduated

went out of his way to assist those in need. He never had a bad
word to say about anyone.

and joined the U.S. Army. After completing basic training, he
became a member of the Brigade Special Troops Battalion of the
10th Mountain Division of Fort Drum, New York, but was based
at Fort Polk, Louisiana. He was deployed to Afghanistan in late
October of 2010, as a combat engineer that detected explosive
devices (IED's), he cleared the way for other combat troops. His
awards included the National Defense Service Medal, the Global
War on Terrorism Medal and the Army Service Ribbon.
On November 27, 2010, during a routine mission, he lost
his life. He leaves to cherish his memories, his father, Tennyson
Harris; his mother, Sorainya Harris; two brothers, David Parker
and Christopher Johnson; three sisters, Tiffany Dotson, Ashley
