Obituary of DeWitt Wright Mr. DeWitt Wright was born on December 31, 1953, in Henderson, Texas, to Ms. Christine Wright. Along with his mother, his grandparents, Lenon and Lucille Wright were instrumental in his upbringing as well as his beloved aunt, Geraldine Witcher and uncle Prentice Wright; all of whom preceded him in death. DeWitt accepted Christ at a very early age and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Henderson, Texas. DeWitt attended public schools in Henderson, Texas and graduated in 1972, from Henderson High School. He moved to Houston, Texas, to attend the University of Houston. DeWitt served as president of the Black Student Union and also worked with the Special Olympics youth group. While attending college, DeWitt met his future wife Carole Boyd. They were married August 3, 1974 at Munger Avenue Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. To this union one child, Chalin Danielle, was born. DeWitt became a member of Munger Avenue Baptist Church and served as Chairman of the Trustee Board and also sang in the choir. DeWitt and Carole later united with Antioch Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church where he was a member until his death. DeWitt began his career with the Internal Revenue Service in 1987. After several well-earned promotions, he reached his goal of becoming a Senior Manager of MITS in 2007 where he was transferred to Kansas City, Missouri. He and Carole lived there until the time of his death. DeWitt felt the best part of his job was mentoring and helping others. DeWitt hired and mentored several high school and college students throughout his career with the IRS. He served as a role model and was always willing to give of his time to anyone who needed him. Family was extremely important to DeWitt and he was devoted to all of his family and friends.
