Obituary of Bettie Jean Byrd

In the fall of 1931 Willie Richardson Byrd and Henry O. Byrd was blessed with a baby girl on October 8th in Bryan Mills, Texas. They name her Bettie Jean Byrd. She was the second of two children born to this union. Bettie grew up in Dallas and received her early education in the Dallas Independent School District and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1949. She accepted Christ at an early age and became an active member of Greater New Zion Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas under the leadership of Reverend Lofton. She later moved her membership to New Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas under the leadership of Reverend Johnny A. McGee. After 88 years with us, Bettie J. Byrd transitioned from “Earth to Glory” on February 29, 2020 . She was surrounded by her family. She was greeted upon her arrival by her Father, Mother and Sister. She leaves to cherish her sons, Arnold B. Byrd of Conroe, Texas, Terry W. Byrd (Patricia) of Euless, Texas; granddaughter, Cherie A. Toliver of Dallas, Texas; God son, Chris Ramsey of Mesquite, Texas; the Pinkney Family who adopted her as their mother and grandmother; a host of relatives and friends.
