Please share a memory of Lois to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
A time to be born….
On October 2, 1941 Lois Jean was born to Lorine Wilson and the late Flonzell Townsie in Longview, Texas
A time to learn and play…
Lois attended Booker T. Washington High School in Dallas, Texas and was a member of the Class of 1958.
A time to live & work for His purpose…
At an early age growing up in Dallas, Lois was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Dallas, Texas. She resided in Los Angeles, California and Anchorage, Alaska and returned to Dallas, Texas in the late 1970’s. She soon joined Mt. Tabor Baptist Church with her husband Orell Daniels Jr. She remained an active member in various ministries at Mt. Tabor until 2012, when she transferred her membership to Concord Church of Dallas. At Concord Church she was an active member in the WISE Ministry and the Harmony Food Pantry.
Lois was one of the 1st African-American Female Certified Aircraft Mechanics for over 20 years at Braniff Airlines and Dalfort Avionics. She led a crew of men in the maintenance and upkeep of numerous aircrafts over her years at Dalfort. Her determination to learn and devotion to fearless leadership despite the circumstances was and continues to be an inspiration to many women of color in this field of study and many others where they are the minority.
She retired in the 1990’s and became an active member of the Bible Discussion Group at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship where she actively studied the Word with a group of ladies that shared the same passion for Christ as her. Here she developed her spiritual walk and shared this growth with those she loved so dearly. She continued this study until she could no longer make classes due to her health.
A time to die….
Lois was preceded in death by her father, Flonzell, her husband Orell Jr, and her daughter Trena Marie. Lois left her earthly home in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday evening, April 22, 2020. She was surrounded by her 3 daughters Karen, Lisa & Tiffany.
