Obituary of Phyllis Boyd
Phillips (Phyllis) LaNoris Boyd was born December 8, 1946, in Kaufman County, the fifth child of Isaiah McNeal and Odessa Goode McNeal. She is preceded in death by both parents, one sister and three brothers. Phyllis attended Powell High School in Kaufman County. Phyllis also received additional education from University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Realtor Certification, Dental Assistant School and HR Block Income Tax training.
Phyllis was employed through Dallas Independent School District as a School Educator, worked for Dr. Arthur Jeffrey, DDS and later began her own business, PBB Bookkeeping and Income Tax Services, established in 1988.
Phyllis was raised with Christian ethics at an early age and united with the Wilson Chapel Methodist Church, later moving her membership and joining Oliver Hill Missionary Baptist Church under founder, the late Pastor J.R. Allen. After years of service with Oliver Hill MBC, Phyllis moved her membership to the Lamb of God Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of founder C.A. McNeal, where she served for years as a Choir member, Usher Board President, Women’s Missionary Auxilary and Deaconess Board. Phyllis later changed her membership and joined Concord Missionary Baptist Church under the late Pastor/Founder E.K. Bailey where she served with the Women’s Chorus Ministry and under Senior Pastor Bryan Carter, serving with the Information Hospitality Ministry until her health failed.
Phyllis was affiliated with several organizations in her lifetime: The Order of Eastern Star, Sigma Gama Rho Sorority, Casa, AARP and Dallas Police Neighborhood Training Program under Police Chief David Kunkel.
Phyllis met and married Freddie Lee Boyd on June 22, 1971, to this union one child was born. Mrs. Phyllis Boyd transitioned to her life’s reward on December 12, 2017. She never met stranger and loved all children who entered her life. She loved her neighbors and her Church. Her infectious laugh will truly be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Phyllis leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Nicole L. Boyd of Dallas, TX; one sister, Janice C. Thomas of Houston, TX; four sisters-in-law, Katherine Boyd (Randolph, Sr.) of Dallas, Freddie Jean Newhouse (Erick) of Dallas, Hazel Dunn of Marshall, TX, Evelyn Boyd (Charles) of Red Oak, TX and Ethelene (Lorenzo) Boyd of Fort Worth, TX; Most Cherished Lifetime Friends, Carolyn Thomas of Spring, TX, and Emma Wright of Henderson, TX; devoted niece, J. Mechelle Riggens (Ronald) of Grand Prairie, TX; six goddaughters; Paulette R. Davis-Sakala of Irving, TX, Kristi Turner-Lacy (Orrick) of Dallas, Twyla Warrior-Gillum of Dallas, Texas, Jennifer R. Scott of Dallas, TX, Carlene Stadler of Flower Mound, TX, and Bonnie Carter-Jackson of Dallas; godson, Perry Provost (Denise) of Rowlett, TX; and one godgrandbaby, Malaki Provost-Simpson; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
