Obituary of Ruthie Mae Holloway

Sis. Ruthie Mae Holloway was born in Hearne, Texas to the parentage of Bro. Otto Johnson, Sr. and Sis. Clara Mae Toliver-Johnson (both preceded her in death). She was the oldest of six (6) siblings; Rev. Sgt. Jimmie S. Johnson (deceased), Jessie M. Johnson-Riley, Oliver L. Johnson (deceased), Otto Johnson, Jr. and Clara M. Johnson-Wiley. She was married to Alfred Charles Holloway (deceased) for over 45 years. To this union were born eight (8) children. Sheila Anne Holloway, Michael C. Holloway, Donald R. Holloway, Mark S. Holloway, Dwain E. Holloway (deceased), Cedric L. Holloway, Lisa Collete Holloway (deceased), Stacy DeShawn Holloway. At the age of three (3) she and her parents united with the Griggs Chapel Missionary Baptist Church (GCMBC). Sis. Ruthie attended Julia C. Frazier Elementary School and graduated from Lincoln High School in Dallas, Texas. She continued her higher educational learning graduating from El Centro College and furthered her education graduating from the North Texas University (now UNT). She earned her Bachelor’s degree as a Registered Nurse. She served as a dutiful and faithful Christian servant as a child into adulthood. Sis. Ruthie loved diligently serving the Lord. She received many special recognition awards which included: former GCMBC Youth Director, Former GCMBC Sunday School Teacher, Former President of the GCMBC Senior Choir, Former GCMBC Usher. Her Community Organization/Affiliations were the American Heart Association, Awarded the 1991 Vera Braue Award for Distinguished Recognition in Outstanding Services in RN Nursing. The Lord Jehovah God blessed Sis. Ruthie Mae Holloway to leave an anointed “Christian Kingdom Building Legacy”. She was a devout “Child of God”, a dedicated Christian wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was blessed to leave her Christian legacy, love and diligent teachings to Sheila Anne Holloway-Williams (Jimmie R.), Michael C. Holloway, Donald R. Holloway, Mark S. Holloway (Karen),, Cedric L. Holloway, Stacy DeShawn Holloway; eight (8) grandchildren: Kelley C. Price (Ronnie), Phillip E. Bomar, Jr. (Tomika), Jakim R. Williams (Kelli), Eric D. Holloway (Kayla), Christopher Holloway (Miranda), Delvin Washington, Mark Holloway, and Markayla Holloway; Seventeen (17) great grandchildren: Sydni Hamilton (Justin), Shekila Hart (Dominique), Kashmiere Bomar, Kimball Bomar, Kyndel Bomar, Kirsten Bomar, Kezia “Ruthie” Williams, Jashaer Williams, Brendan Holloway, Kaydon Holloway, Kellen Holloway, Baylee Holloway, Amoni Aldridge, Corey Holloway, Mariah Holloway, Artemis Holloway, Cameron Holloway; Seven (7) great great grandchildren Kelsie Maddox, Khristian Maddox, Kaidyn Hamilton, Karter Hamilton, Ka’Taris Hamilton, Emmanuel Hart, and Chase Hart. Additionally, she leaves to cherish her memories Jessie M. Johnson-Riley, Otto Johnson, Jr. and Clara M. Johnson-Wiley and a host of other relatives and friends. We Miss You Mom We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. We think of you in silence, We often speak your name. All we have are memories, and your picture in a frame. Your memory is our my keepsake, with which we’ll never part. God has you in His keeping, We have you in our heart.
