Obituary of L.B. White
~~WHEREAS, Monday, November13, 2017, our sweet grace-filled Mother,
Mrs. L.B. White, unexpectedly transitioned to her eternal life in Heaven. We pray she was greeted by her parents Mr. Jim Cartwright and Mrs. Beulah Floyd Cartwright. The souls left here below are weeping and mourning; and
WHEREAS, today, November 18, 2017, we honor her life and legacy; and
WHEREAS, she is known for her love of the Lord, her sweet nature, motherly love for all who know her, being a Girl Scout Leader, Teacher, Class Leader, Usher Board President, Stewardess Board President, PTA Treasurer, PTA Life Member, Classroom Mom, Minis-ter’s Wife, Hostess of Teas and other soirées, Debutant Mother, Choir member, Mother of three Sigma Gamma Rho, Sorority Inc. Daughters, Confidante, Entrepreneur, Leader, Seamstress, the Lady with the Green Thumb, Soprano, Mechanic, “MacGyver” (Janet of all trades), Dallas County Election Judge, Parkland Memorial Hospital Patron;
AND WHEREAS, she is also known as Mother, Disciplinarian, Mother -In Law, Grand-mother, Great-Grandmother, God-Grandmother, Aunt, Cousin, Friend, and Lambert United Methodist Church, Leader, Bethel Memorial Methodist Church, Faithful Bethel A.M.E. Church Member (illness removed attendance, but not her love), J.W. Shephard’s Care Min-istry Contact Person, a Lady with great Strength and Determination; and
WHEREAS, Mother is a descendant of the first black families that settled in Dallas, Texas. She is both beautiful and smart…the true definition of the Proverbs 31 woman. And yet, she is the most humble, soft spoken spirit you will meet…if you make it to Heaven; and
WHEREAS, her most stunning attribute is her faith. Romans 6:23 says “…the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord; and
WHEREAS, that faith made her the honest, “tell it to you straight,” never talk behind your back, self sacrificing, heart of gold person that she is; and
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that her presence will be missed. She has left behind a legacy impossible to replicate and is found in her daughters: W Dorsey (SFC Ret William O. Dorsey, Patricia Anne White, Miranda S White-Price (Prentice Price Jr.), Boadicea White Mathis (O.B. Mathis, Jr. “I am not losing a daughter; I’m gaining a son,” Mother), Granddaughter Bianca M. Dorsey (N. Steven Harris), Granddaughter Sequoia A Harris, God Granddaughter A’Keira J. Calhoun; special daughters Donobra Modkins and Margretha King (Curtis Jackson); special friends Dorothy M. Pierre, Tina Wilson, the McKnight Family, Rev Mittie C. Muse, Jr. and Family, and a host of other relatives and friends.
