Dorothy Berry Hughes reached out and took me in as a mentor when I served as a young, first year English teacher in a room adjoining hers. Shortly afterwards, we discovered that one of her nephews, Cleveland, was one of my roommates and club brothers at Prairie View. She always extended herself as a mediator, counselor, big sister and friend whenever and wherever the need existed. May God's amazing grace, mercy and goodness cover Cheri and all family members as she makes her Glorious Transition.
